Tea tree oil and goldfish?

A naturopath once told me that if I kept goldfish, I should add a drop of tea (ti) tree oil to their water. I've done some research online and it mentions that it has been used to treat fungal infections and encourage fin growth in Bettas (Siamese fighting fish). Has anyone had any experience with this and goldfish?
