If my estranged husband of 30 yrs gets very ill/dies how will I know?

My husband left 6 months ago. The family has squeezed me out and keeps husband drunk/drugged to spend his newly acquired inheritance. I never saw a dime. He is 62 , has breathing issues and a heavy drinker/smoker. I spoke to him once and there's always family around him. I don't know what to do?
